On Friday, February 14, 8 Parkside orchestra students traveled to Salisbury University for the first ever String Solo and Ensemble Prep Day. They participated in a masterclass about string playing techniques with college professors, got in-depth coaching on their performance pieces, listened to a presentation on furthering their music studies in college, and were treated to a performance by some members of the Salisbury Youth Orchestra. It was a great partnership opportunity between the university and our local schools, and we're excited to see how the in-depth experience pays off in their performances at our local Solo and Ensemble Festival in a few weeks!

Today is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, and we are so very appreciative of our amazing SRO, DFC Shane Webster! Webster does a phenomenal job of keeping the school safe while also building relationships with students and supporting the RAMFAM! Shane is also a proud Parkside graduate and a RAM for life! Thank you, DFC Shane Webster, for all you do! We are fortunate to have you! The first slide is from yesterday when Zanette/White/Weiss classes presented Webster with a card and some cake. 2nd and 3rd slides are some pictures of Webster over the years at Parkside. Thanks again, Shane!

CALLING ALL RAMFAM!!! Did you know that next school year, the 2025-2026 school year, will be the 50th year for Parkside High School? That’s right, Parkside High School will be 50 years old! Well, we are going to make sure that everyone knows that Parkside High School is an amazing high school and celebrate our Golden Jubilee (don’t worry…everything will still be GREEN!)! One thing that we will be creating is a Parkside Alumni Association that will allow for all RAMFAM to be a part of this celebration and continuing love of Parkside, Home of the RAMS! If you are interested in joining the Parkside High School Alumni Association, please email the current principal and proud 91’ Parkside graduate Brian Briggs at bbriggs@mywcps.org so we can start this up. Parkside High School has meant a lot to a lot of people, and we can’t wait to show the world how much Parkside High School means to us as well as how great of a school it is! Please share this with as many Parkside RAMFAM as possible and this should also include any Parkside staff, former or present, who would like to be a part of this. Let’s make this 50th year for Parkside High School one to remember!

We know families and staff are wondering about tomorrow's school status, so we wanted to let everyone know that as of now, we anticipate opening on time and in schools Thursday, Feb. 13. If there were foggy conditions in the morning that necessitated a delay, families and staff would be notified through the usual process. We look forward to seeing everyone in school bright and early tomorrow.

RAMFAM, it's almost time for our first ever Snow Virtual Day! Remember, 1st period starts at 10 AM, so make sure you log in prior to that so you're ready to go right at 10 AM! We've got this, and it will work! This will also keep you from having to come to school on June 16th when it will probably be 80 and sunny!

School status for February 12th is a virtual learning day
Today the Wicomico County Board of Education approved a final 2024-2025 school calendar adjustment to make up for one of the days missed in January. As preferred by the most people who responded to a survey on makeup day options, and as recommended by the Superintendent and his team, the Board approved changing the Feb. 17 Presidents Day holiday to a day of school with 3-hour early dismissal. Of the nearly 5,400 responses to the school system’s calendar adjustment survey, more (45%) favored making up a missed school day from January with a school day with 3-hour early dismissal on Monday, Feb. 17 than on either of the other two potential dates. Please plan accordingly.
