Ms. Liza Hastings
Principal
Mrs. Hastings is a Mardela High School graduate who received her Bachelor's degree from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and her Master's degree from Salisbury University. Prior to becoming Principal of Mardela Middle and High School in 2017, Mrs. Hastings served as Principal of Bennett Middle school from 2011-2017, Assistant Principal at Bennett Middle School from 2008-2011, and was the Dean of Students and a history teacher at Wicomico High School from 1998-2008. She began her career in 1997 as a 6th grade history teacher at Glen Avenue Elementary School. Mrs. Hastings was recognized in 2004 as semi-finalist for Teacher of the Year and was named Maryland's Middle School Principal of the Year in 2017 by the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals. She is happily married to a Mardela graduate and is the very proud mother of two!
Dr. Doreen Nolan
Assistant Principal
Dr. Nolan came to Mardela Middle & High in the Summer of 2021 after a brief stint at the Schumaker Complex. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nolan served as a Consulting Teacher in Baltimore County Public Schools where she aided new teachers and those identified as ineffective or underperforming. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nolan taught Health Education. Her administrative background began at Gettysburg College where she also coached Women’s Volleyball and Tennis and served as a Senior Women’s Administrator. After relinquishing her coaching duties, Dr. Nolan accepted various positions as a Director under the Student Affairs umbrella within several college programs. Dr. Nolan received her Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Education Degree in Health and Physical Education. She received a Ph.D. from Walden University in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a Concentration in Leadership and Organizational Change. Dr. Nolan grew up in Avalon, NJ, and is happily married to her husband, Anthony.
Ms. Nancy Guillemart
Assistant Principal
Nancy Guillemart holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Asbury University and a Master's degree in History from the University of Kentucky. She enjoyed teaching middle school social studies for 14 years, as well as Advanced Placement Psychology for 8 years. In 2012 and 2016, Wicomico county honored Ms. Guillemart as Mardela Middle and High School's teacher of the year and a semifinalist in the county. During this time, Ms. Guillemart mentored new teachers for 5 years and Salisbury University awarded her the Salisbury University Marchan Ball Mentor Teacher and Co-Teacher of the Year Award in 2012. As part of her desire to develop excellent teachers, Ms. Guillemart was an adjunct professor in the education department at Salisbury University in 2015 and 2016. Ms. Guillemart has served as Assistant Principal at Salisbury Middle School, Pittsville Elementary and Middle School, and now at Mardela Middle and High. She is proud to be part of the administrative team for MMHS.
