
Dr. Yuriy Petrushenko, professor of economics at Sumy State University in Ukraine, studying at Salisbury University as an international Fulbright Scholar, spoke today at Parkside High to history classes. The title of his talk was "10 Myths about the Russian-Ukrainian War." Thank you to Dr. Sandy Pope and Mr. Chris Grande for setting up this wonderful opportunity for our students!

Spring break will be here soon! With all the adjustments made to the 2024-2025 school year calendar due to winter weather, here is a reminder of the correct spring break dates:
-Wednesday, April 16 is now a regular school day.
-Thursday, April 17 is a 3-hour early dismissal day.
-Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21st are days the schools and school system will be closed.
-Tuesday, April 22 is the day schools and offices reopen from spring break.

On March 25, DialogueNEXT was held in Washington, D.C. The Foundation unveiled 117 organizations, joining 153 Nobel and World Food Prize Laureates calling for drastic “moonshot” innovations to enable feeding a growing global population. Joining this important event were Parkside CTE Horticulture students and Borlaug Scholars, Jasmine Tribeck (Parkside), and Morgan Dawson (Wi Hi). Thank you, Teresa Maggio and Diamond Nwaeze, from UMES 4H Extension for supporting this opportunity. Yesterday, Mr. Chris Grande was able to take Parkside Teachers Academy of Maryland students to Salisbury University for a visit. They were able to get tours of the campus, watched lessons in elementary or secondary education, and learned about the application process. Parkside and Wicomico County Public Schools are proud of our great working relationship with Salisbury University!

Today, students found out that they were chosen for the National English Honor Society by advisors Mrs. Capute and Mrs. Stoltzfus, and admin advisor Mrs. Jackson. We are so proud of these students and look forward to inducting them on May 15th. Some students weren't present today and will find out tomorrow.

Parkside Softball with a hard fought 10-7 victory over JMB today. Both teams played hard till the very last at bat. Job well done by both teams.


Great baseball game between two really good baseball teams. A pitching duel right from the start with Parkside winning 1-0 over a really tough JMB team.

Recently, our French Honor Society volunteered for the dinner service at Halo. It was a wonderful, humbling experience, and our students truly represented PHS. We are so proud of these students and Mrs. Holland for putting the needs of others before their own and helping make this a better world! The web design team of Banyu Arihala (PHS) and Oscar Gil Leyva (Wi Hi) received gold but did not have to attend yesterday. In addition,
Dylan Bean (PHS) won bronze in welding (pictured), and the Automated Manufacturing Technology team of Thomas Dickey (Mardela), Apollo Paternoster (Mardela), and Riley Clapper (JMB), also won bronze. Great job, Parkside CTE SkillsUSA!
